If at low temperatures, the automotive battery weakens, usually must
be replaced or recharged. There are good chargers for under 100 €, but
it should be left entirely approve of the fingers.
With "highly recommended" the battery charger CTEK MXS has been chosen
by 5.0 Kunzer test winner. It reached GTÜ comparison 452 of 500
maximum possible points, followed by Bosch C3 with 418 points.
Stuttgart / DüsseldorfDas morning organs in cold weather and the lousy
non-starting of the engine knows almost every driver: the nasty
surprise of a dead battery. It is not necessarily due to poor quality
or age of the battery - and it is usually four years - but often
traveled to the city too much short-haul traffic.
To recharge, each battery takes its time, either on an extended tour,
or at the local outlet. It provides the appropriate battery charger
accessories trade that cost less than 100 €. Eight of them, buttoning
the Society for Technical Supervision (GTÜ) before now.
Winner with the title "Highly recommended" was the CTEK MXS 5.0 of
Kunzer, which is commercially available. The MXS 5.0 GTÜ achieved in
comparison 452 of 500 maximum possible points, followed by Bosch C3
with 418 points. The squares were followed (score in brackets) M + S
Intelli 2 (378), Cartrend MP 3800 (368), Saito Pro Charger XL (362),
AEG LP Plus (334), ProTech M42 (310) and far behind the Cartrend 6A
with only 158 points.
An important finding of the Auditor-GTÜ: The price will decide not
only on the quality of a battery charger, the most expensive because
candidates were not all the best. But should you invest a few euros
more so, because the two units occupied by far the cheapest and the
last places.
COUNSELOR
Preparation for winter driving
Even if we do not want to admit it: With wintry conditions to be
expected soon. With the right preparation and attitude, drivers can
get away with it well clear.
An important point in the extensive test program was the quality of
the charge and trickle charge process. Received a perfect score here
CTEK, M + S, and Saito, who also appropriated as a single test in the
field to 100 percent for the unscrupulous long-term operation of the
automotive battery.
CTEK was on top of that the device with the quickest charge and the
only thing that really consistently uses the classic, recommended by
most battery manufacturers called IUoU-charging with bulk, absorption
and float charge phase with regulated voltages.
From the top devices managed by the way, only the winner, also arouse
deeply discharged batteries with a residual voltage to three volts
back to life, a practice that would otherwise only Saito and just the
last in a field that Cartrend 6A dominated.
The winners and runners CTEK MXS 5.0 and C3 Bosch provided the best
visual and tactile impression and were also robust enough to survive
the drop test with full marks. The latter also managed to AEG, the MP
3800 and Cartrend ProTech.
