ADAC test automotive batteries

Manufacturers also sometimes need help starting /
Posttest were: Exide Premium 722 and EA Banner Power Bull
Munich (ots) - After a disastrous test result last year, the ADAC has
now re-tested starter batteries. Two of last year with "poor" rated
batteries have now been improved and have reached the verdict in
post-test "good". Since battery problems are the most common cause of
breakdown, according to the ADAC, manufacturers should not neglect the
quality of spare parts. Especially in winter, the reliability of
automotive batteries for car drivers is essential.

The Exide Premium 722 and the EA banner Power Bull could convince the
posttest. It looked at the startup performance of the batteries. In
addition, the force donors were subjected to technical examination,
which includes, among other things, water consumption and discharge.
Furthermore, the durability (cycle life and corrosion) tested.
Dissatisfied ADAC is still named the starter batteries with respect to
the manufacture date. The date of the turnkey delivery and the
freshness date should be clearly marked and traceable. Also a
recommendation of the inspection intervals should be visible. If
necessary, the battery should also have an indication of the warranty
period and of the coverage.

Motorists should check can be the beginning of the cold season, the
automotive batteries and possibly buy a new one. Older batteries fail
at the first frost often their service, especially when the
rejuvenator over four years. The battery has been going crazy with
mild temperatures effort, the starter, then it starts to freeze a
collapse is inevitable. In the favorable case, a vitality cure helps
the charger. If she is too old or in the past but one or more times
"deep discharge" was (drawn by non-empty disconnected loads), it helps
only one exchange. Who wants to wait until the first failure: ADAC
test centers and auto repair shops have the option of the "cold-start
capability" of the current memory test.

CTEK Charger for automotive batteries wins Comparison

If at low temperatures, the automotive battery weakens, usually must
be replaced or recharged. There are good chargers for under 100 €, but
it should be left entirely approve of the fingers.

With "highly recommended" the battery charger CTEK MXS has been chosen
by 5.0 Kunzer test winner. It reached GTÜ comparison 452 of 500
maximum possible points, followed by Bosch C3 with 418 points.

Stuttgart / DüsseldorfDas morning organs in cold weather and the lousy
non-starting of the engine knows almost every driver: the nasty
surprise of a dead battery. It is not necessarily due to poor quality
or age of the battery - and it is usually four years - but often
traveled to the city too much short-haul traffic.
To recharge, each battery takes its time, either on an extended tour,
or at the local outlet. It provides the appropriate battery charger
accessories trade that cost less than 100 €. Eight of them, buttoning
the Society for Technical Supervision (GTÜ) before now.
Winner with the title "Highly recommended" was the CTEK MXS 5.0 of
Kunzer, which is commercially available. The MXS 5.0 GTÜ achieved in
comparison 452 of 500 maximum possible points, followed by Bosch C3
with 418 points. The squares were followed (score in brackets) M + S
Intelli 2 (378), Cartrend MP 3800 (368), Saito Pro Charger XL (362),
AEG LP Plus (334), ProTech M42 (310) and far behind the Cartrend 6A
with only 158 points.
An important finding of the Auditor-GTÜ: The price will decide not
only on the quality of a battery charger, the most expensive because
candidates were not all the best. But should you invest a few euros
more so, because the two units occupied by far the cheapest and the
last places.
COUNSELOR
Preparation for winter driving
Even if we do not want to admit it: With wintry conditions to be
expected soon. With the right preparation and attitude, drivers can
get away with it well clear.

An important point in the extensive test program was the quality of
the charge and trickle charge process. Received a perfect score here
CTEK, M + S, and Saito, who also appropriated as a single test in the
field to 100 percent for the unscrupulous long-term operation of the
automotive battery.
CTEK was on top of that the device with the quickest charge and the
only thing that really consistently uses the classic, recommended by
most battery manufacturers called IUoU-charging with bulk, absorption
and float charge phase with regulated voltages.
From the top devices managed by the way, only the winner, also arouse
deeply discharged batteries with a residual voltage to three volts
back to life, a practice that would otherwise only Saito and just the
last in a field that Cartrend 6A dominated.
The winners and runners CTEK MXS 5.0 and C3 Bosch provided the best
visual and tactile impression and were also robust enough to survive
the drop test with full marks. The latter also managed to AEG, the MP
3800 and Cartrend ProTech.

Auto - Technology: The car battery checked before winter

Munich (dpa / tnm) - engines last longer, but some car battery makes
tuckered after four years. As pointed out, the ADAC in Munich before
the winter, and recommends a technical review in a specialist
workshop.
Especially older batteries often failed at the first frost in service.
Be first indication if the donor strength even at mild temperatures
have difficulty to operate the starter, the experts explain the ADAC
in Munich. They therefore recommend that before the winter to a
technical review of the car battery in a specialist workshop.
The car battery was already "deep", ie fully discharged, according to
the ADAC often only further helps a new acquisition. A new car battery
should be according to the Automobile Club visibly marked with the
date of delivery as well as recommended service intervals. On
so-called freshness date the age of the battery could be read to
reveal possible slow-moving items.

industrial batteries applications

Industrial Applications of Batteries: From Cars to Aerospace and Energy StorageIndustrial Applications of Batteries looks at both the applications and the batteries and covers the relevant scientific and technological features. Presenting large batteries for stationary applications, e.g. energy storage, and also batteries for hybrid vehicles or different tools. The important aerospace field is covered both in connection with satellites and space missions. Examples of applications include, telecommunications, uninterruptible power supplies, systems for safety/alarms, car accessories, toll collection, asset tracking systems, medical equipment, and oil drilling.
The first chapter on applications deals with electric and hybrid vehicles. Four chapters are devoted to stationary applications, i.e. energy storage (from the electric grid or solar/wind energy), load levelling, telecommunications, uninterruptible power supplies, back-up for safety/alarms. Battery management by intelligent systems and prediction of battery life are dealt with in a dedicated chapter. The topic of used battery collection and recycling, with the description of specific treatments for the different systems, is also extensively treated in view of its environmental relevance. Finally, the world market of these batteries is presented, with detailed figures for the various applications.

* Updated and full overview of the power sources for industries
* Written by leading scientists in their fields
* Well balanced in terms of scientific and technical information
